Для меня тема Русские мотивы — это, прежде всего, Русский Север: Беломорье, Карелия, Межозерье Ладоги и Онеги… А цвета конкурсных кристаллов напомнили о такой фольклорно-сувенирной вещи, как пряники-козули, характерные как раз для народов этих земель. Козули считаются самым древним обрядовым печеньем, выполненным в виде различных смысловых фигурок, которые традиционно дарят на Рождество и начало Нового года. А забавное название произошло не от слова коза, а от поморского слова, означающего завиток.
Самым популярным видом пряника-козули считается Олень с раскидистыми рогами, сулящий богатство, а также Солнце, которое на Севере почиталось во все времена. Именно в этих формах я и выполнила декоративные элементы для конкурсной работы. Расположение декоративных элементов, а также плетеный из канители галун делают отсылку к традиционным северным орнаментам.
А еще в сумочке есть секрет: она может одновременно служить уютной муфтой для замерзших ручек хозяйки. Ведь куда же на Севере без теплой одежды?

For me, the topic “Russian Motifs” is, first of all, the Russian North: the White Sea, Karelia, lands between Ladoga and Onega Lakes. And the colors of the competition crystals reminded of such a folklore and souvenir thing as gingerbread-“kozuly”, typical just for the peoples of these lands. “Kozuly” are considered to be the most ancient ceremonial cookies, made in the form of various semantic figures, which are traditionally presented at Christmas and the beginning of the New Year. And the funny name “kozuly” comes from a Pomeranian word meaning curl.
The most popular type of gingerbread-“kozuly” is considered to be a Deer with spreading horns, promising wealth, as well as the Sun, which has been revered in the North at all times. It was in these forms that I made decorative elements for the competition work. The arrangement of decorative elements, as well as the galloon braided from the gimp, make a reference to traditional northern ornaments.
And there is also a secret in the handbag: it can simultaneously serve as a cozy muff for the frozen handles of the hostess. After all, where in the North without warm clothes?
