Перо священного Кетцаля…
Кетцаль (лат. Pharomachrus mocinno) (англ. Resplendent Quetzal) — эта священная райская птица удивительно красива. У Кетцаля ярко-малиновая грудка контрастирует с изумрудного цвета опереньем спины, отливающим синим блеском.
Именно это оперенье сделало Кетцаля священной птицей. Его почитали древние Майя и Ацтеки как божественную птицу, связанную с богом Кетцалькоатлем. Его оперенье использовали в ритуалах, именно перьями кетцаля украшали индейцы свою одежду и нарядный головной убор. Кетцаль считался символом добра и света.
Но конечно, лишить жизни священную птицу было бы немыслимым преступлением для Майя. Поэтому у кетцаля только заимствовали перья, да и то в благородных целях: вплетенные в головной убор вождя или шамана, перья эти соединяли его с главным богом Кетцалькоатлем.
Райская птица Кетцаль была самым священным символом Ацтеков и Майя, и лишь высшим слоям общества позволялось украшать свою одежду перьями этой птицы. Вообще, слово кетцаль у древних индейцев являлось термином, обозначающим перья из хвоста птицы, а сама священная птичка олицетворяла свободу.
Моё Вдохновение пришло при виде самих кристаллов, их формы и цветовых переливов. А также от названия новой коллекции Swarovski: «Назад к Истокам. Племенные мотивы».
И в сочетании цветовой гаммы малиново-зелёных переливов, уходящих в синеву, и родился образ колье- чокера: «Перо священного Кетцаля».

The feather of the sacred Quetzal …
Quetzal (lat. Pharomachrus mocinno.), (eng. Resplendent Quetzal) — this sacred bird of paradise is amazingly beautiful. Quetzal’s bright crimson breast contrasts with the emerald feathers on it’s back which have glowing blue shades. That is what made Quetzal a sacred bird. Ancient Mayans and Aztecs honored it as a divine bird, associated with the god Quetzalcoatl. It’s feathers were used in rituals, Quetzal feathers were used by the Red Indians to adorn their clothes and elegant headwear. Quetzal was considered a symbol of goodness and light.
But of course, taking the life of a sacred bird would have been an unthinkable crime for the Mayans. Therefore, they only borrowed Quetzal feathers, and only for noble purposes: woven into the headwear of a chief or shaman, these feathers connected the wearer to the main God Quetzalcoatl.
The Quetzal Bird of Paradise was the most sacred symbol of the Aztecs and Mayans, and only the upper class of society were allowed to decorate their clothes with feathers of this bird. Generally, the word quetzal was used among the ancient Red Indians to denote the feathers of a bird’s tail, and the sacred bird itself embodies freedom.
My inspiration came at the sight of the crystals themselves, their shape and color modulations. And also the name of the new Swarovski collection «Back to the origins. Tribal motifs.»
And in combination of crimson-green iridescence, stretching out into the blue was born the image of a necklace- choker, «The feather of the sacred Quetzal».
